1st shot: that's our street in the province, though our house isn't visible there. was on the bus going to the airport (which was JUST around 2 1/2hrs away ...)
2nd shot: attended Holy Mass before leaving ... it was a Sunday, after all. :)
3rd shot: view of a part of Luzon area ... while the plane was preparing to land. not really a pretty sight, is it? ;P

it's nice to be back ... but i must admit, i miss my hometown.

there you can find live bands, dining alfresco, ice cream (yup, yup, yup!),
and it's located literally along Manila Bay. well, you can just imagine the smells there! :D

i got thinking: are there any "regulars" here?

so the next day, we ate breakfast there again ...

and guess what?

the answer: YES!

i guess some people just don't have the time to cook their own

breakfast anymore.

or maybe they don't have access to a kitchen (you think?).

or maybe .... nah! too many possible reasons.

it's their life.

actually, that's just what was covering this ...

that's the first time in my life that i've ever opened a pomelo! LOL

the thick skin and spongy underlayer is quite a tough one ... but the sweet stuff inside is worth it! :)

sometimes it isn't sweet, though. it is a citrus fruit, after all. :)

took this shot around a week ago while we were passing this area (Manila Bay, at Baywalk), on the way to my in-law's place. i was in the car. turned out a bit decent. then decided to butcher it using photoshop. lol.

actually, that "man" sitting there is just a statue. no person in his right mind would sit there at that hour (around past 3pm)! he'd be fried to a crisp! lol. :D

but at night, this area gets to be quite crowded ... this is quite a long strip. you can dine al fresco here, while listening to a couple or so of bands performing. haven't tried it yet, but have passed by here during night time a few times. it's kind of far from my place. ;)

went last weekend to the Mall of Asia (again, i know... sigh), since my mother-in-law wanted to buy some household appliances. i like going there because of the photo-opportunities available; but i was told by one of the guards one time that taking pictures is actually not allowed! hahaha. :D

i didn't listen, obviously ... besides, there weren't any "no camera" and "no picture-taking" signs. or maybe i haven't seen them yet. hahaha. so in the meantime, i'll keep on "snapping". :D

took this shot at the fourth floor parking lot, while we were about to leave ... i just couldn't resist the sunset. those stars were just a wonderful bonus. :)

i first read at wikipedia, while researching about them ( i just had to know a bit about them, shouldn't i? ), that shrikes impale their prey on thorns ...!!!

i thought ... what?!

then i saw what this bird did ... trying to impale his breakfast into that twig! i guess there is a lack of thorns around our area, so he/she has to make do with what's around. unfortunately, he/she didn't succeed; left instead. hopefully, the prey was eaten instead of cast aside.

not really a wonderful photo, but it expresses what i felt earlier this morning ...

i was waiting for the brown shrike ( the bird ) to make his/her customary rounds on our cable wires and our neighbor's trees for his/her morning meal, when i looked up and saw the light and shadows on the palm trees. it was around 6:46AM ...

the air felt crisp and clean ... and i could hear the sparrows chattering. incessantly.

the wonderful feeling made my day! ... and i just had to take a shot of something to represent what i felt.

didn't see the brown shrike today. guess i was too early. :o)

saw these bamboo stars along the highway last weekend ...
another sign that Christmas is fast approaching!

... and i still haven't started on my Christmas shopping yet!
still no decorations on our house, either; though some neighbors are quite eager and have already put up their Christmas lights.

i have no qualms with that. in fact, i think it makes the place look cheerful! :)

yeah, went there last weekend ...

took this shot from the Mall of Asia which, i just found out, is the third largest shopping mall in the world, when it comes to floor size ... :o
regarding that line of cars ... well, they are parked there because ... hahaha, i really dunno why. the parking area inside the mall wasn't full when we got there ... i guess parking outside the mall is free. lol. :D

it was pretty hot when i took this shot (around past two in the afternoon), so only one person is visible there. but believe me, when the sun went down ... gosh, i was amazed at the number of people there! i wanted to take a shot at the sunset, but i got stuck at a software store. oh well ... better luck next time! ;P

nah, it's really not that picturesque, ( or is it? hahaha ) ... i just used the zoom feature ... blocking out all the other scenes. well, some houses ( roofs, mostly ), office buildings, some more giant antennaes, billboards, and trees are part of the scene ... i just thought i'd zero in on the sunset ... ;P

some shots were more difficult to take ( like the red insect there ... i had a hard time crouching on the ground and following that little guy!! boy, i never realized he could move that fast! hahaha ) while the others were ... hmmm. just lucky shots? lol ... :D

i hope that they'll still be around ( and healthy! ) even after a couple or so hundreds of years later ... some of them we'd like to swat and/or spray with toxic substances, but hey, i guess they are also needed in the ecosystem! hmmm ... i wonder of what use the mosquitoes are ... yeah, food for the frogs! ;P

saw these birds earlier today ... outside our window.

normally we see only the sparrow, and the center bird there (i don't know it's name..ugh!) ... the last bird i normally don't see around our area. or maybe am just not that observant enough! lol.

it's color isn't that noticeable, so i guess when perched on a tree it just blends well. good camouflage, huh?! however, i think i may have seen the same bird, when it was younger ... here's the shot .

it's wonderful to know that here in the city there are still different bird species freely roaming the area ... i guess it's also because we are near two parks; a city and a university park. pretty lucky, for us. :o)

thank heavens it's already friday tomorrow!!! yikes ... it is friday the 13th!!! LOL. :D

there wasn't really much litter around (thanks heavens!), but it is wonderful to know cleanliness is still being maintained at a regular basis ... :)

Due to the typhoon "Milenyo" (international codename Xangsane), we experienced brown-outs . . . and that means no computers, television, internet . . . but that doesn't mean i can't play with my camera, though (good thing i had a fresh set of charged batteries!!) . . .

. . . and what else should i be taking pictures of, but the candle!

i think i should have taken shots of another object, though, since look what came out! LOL

*i hope you see the weird shape on the wick, there . . . eerie!!

**i really should be thankful that our area wasn't really that badly damaged; in fact, power was restored after a mere 12 hours, compared to other areas wherein power was restored after 30 hours!

started on this just this week, but got the stuffs months ago . . . talk about procrastination, huh?! ;p
initially, only wanted to make some circles, but i think i tightened the roll too much, so i had to be "creative". . . forced to make the chick-look-alike there . . .
then i moved on to making the sun . . . got some wonderful samples from this site.
i think chandni's a member there . . . :)

this hobby's definitely here to stay, for me!
might be making some for the Christmas season . . . yeah, for me it's never too early to start, specially with this type of craft! lol . . .

i wonder, is the grass greener on the other side??!!

came upon this rather inquisitive red ant while i was rummaging for some food. obviously, i had competition! but, of course, i had the upper hand (both literally and figuratively)!

fortunately, before he could get to my sandwhich, i had already gobbled it all up (sooo unlady-like, i know . . .tsk.tsk.tsk!)!!! well, except for a few crumbs here and there... which i know would make him happy!

but, no . . . i had to clean the table. wouldn't want to encourage him and his kind to just go and make a beeline for the table everytime there's food there!!!

so . . . is the grass greener on the other side? most probably, for the red ant. :o)

would you believe i first got the "mother" of this plant seven years ago? ;p

since then, this plant has "moved" together with us ...
sometimes we have in our possessions stuffs which we care enough to bring with us, wherever we go. like a treasured wall clock, a humongous cabinet, or in our place, this kind of insignificant-looking gout plant.

here's hoping our treasured plant will thrive well, living in the city! ;p

i don't know much ... all i know is that it has always been way up there; sometimes visible, and sometimes not (visible).

kind of like a reassuring sight.

anyway, this is the nearest i could get, using super macro mode... actually, i just wanted to take some multiple shots of the fly... so i was really amused when i saw the results! no wonder the fly didn't notice me ~ he was busy!

have you ever wondered what a tiny ant really looks like? well, i have...lol.
ever since i first chanced upon our encyclopedia (yup, those 26 hard-bound, heavy thick books with the super thin pages inside) and viewed those awesome macro (didn't know they called it macro, back then...) film shots (yup, no digital cams back then!), i got hooked!

trying to capture awesome macro shots is one of my dreams, but that has to wait, since it is an expensive hobby! hahaha...
for now, i have to be content with what my camera can manage...

spider on our floor...

you know, i am not much of a fan when it comes to living with creepy-crawlies, but i was kind of glad i found this spider on our floor..

just shows that even if we do live in an urban area, creepy crawlies still do manage to survive the constant terror of being sprayed upon {with toxic substances}, or being squashed to death...Or maybe this shot just confirms the fact that i am not that nitty-picky when it comes to cleanliness... LoL!! :D

{actually, this spider is just about 3/4th of an inch..still, don't let them get near me, please...!! *shudder*}
